2.Please read the article in Chapter 4 about private prisons in Florida . Then tell me three or four problems or issues than can result from a prison run being run by a private company as opposed to a government agency. 3. Read the article about the subculture for corrections officers in Chapter 4. (It is actually about parole officers, but it consists of the same type of subculture.)
Which part of the subculture is the most problematic? In other words, which part of the subculture of C.O.s has the potential to cause the most harm?

4.The textbook spells out a couple of ethical dilemmas faced by COs. Tell me about one of the ethical dilemmas and explain how you would handle it.
5.Many people believe that ethical COs are the unsung heroes of the criminal justice system. Think about it: the criminal justice system consists of policing, courts, and corrections — not just policing and the courts! Yet society seems to idolize and make television shows about detectives and prosecuting attorneys and forgets all about those taking care of things while individuals are incarcerated. There is no way the system could survive without corrections officers. Some of them make a huge, positive impact on the lives of inmates, despite everything we learn about those who don’t do the right thing.
This brings up an important question: Why don’t we as a society see corrections officers as professionals?
Please take a stab at answering this question, keeping in mind that states like Massachusetts require a college degree, graduation from a corrections officer academy, CPR/AED training, and a physical aptitude test, so they certainly need professional credentials here.
